I walked the path to the golden gates at a steady pace. My wings unfurled. Do I really want to do this? Thinking about it gave me such anxiety. I was taking up the role of guardian angel. If I mess up the devil will have the upper hand. I couldn't let it happen. The doors opened as I descended on a fluffy white cloud. I racked my brain for the name of the one I'm being sent to protect. Sara....YES! I smiled. She was just born into this world a few days ago. I honed in on where her location was. Richmond, VA! Of coarse! I had never been there so I didn't know what it was like. As I hovered over the nursery I was awed at how tiny she was. My heart melted instantly. Sara, I'm here. You can't see me but I can see you. I'm going to protect you in this life. I tried to send her a message that she wasn't alone in this room of babies crying and screaming. Don't fear, little one!
24 years later....
She was walking to her history class. People looked at her strange but she didn't care. Your perfect as you are! I whispered this in her ear softly. She turned her head as if she heard my voice. When she was in her seat the professor asked anyone if they did their homework. She raised her hand high and said, " I did! The teacher was grateful to have such a attentive student. The others where either playing Angry Birds on their laptop, or cruising Match.com for dates. She sat with her pencil in hand as she explained how evolution of early humans worked. A grin broke on the teacher's face. She always sat up front as people whispered, and did her best to listen to what the he said.
As she walked home, I followed her. Way to go, girl! I pumped my first in the air. She turned on her ipod to the soundtrack of Broadway's sensational musical, Wicked. As she walked to the stop light and the light turned red indicating for her to walk across, she tied her shoelace carefully. I watched out to make sure she crossed before the light changed. Her mom was at home when she arrived. She was harvesting the tomatoes they'd grown. She looked up, beaming, happy that her daughter got home safely. Every day with her was a blessing. Each day was always the same routine. Sara liked routine. She would come in the house, watch her favorite TV shows, and get started on her paper for class the next day. Her dad was working at his restaurant, "Ed's Cuisine's", so as soon as she was done she went to see him. He spoiled her with a chocolate malt. She sipped her drink, and asked "Dad, how do I get this one boy to talk to me?" He was prepared for this conversation. "Well, just be yourself, and don't change a thing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." As he said it her daughter giggled. She was her his and her mother's whole world.
As she walked back home I kept both eyes on her. Something was different. I could smell it. So I looked around, but didn't see any threat. She stopped quickly as a car was approaching. I pulled her back with my hand on her shoulder. Go away, stranger! Sara, said quickly before he could tempt her for a ride," Get away!" "Come with me, girl", he called over his shoulder. I stepped in front of her so I was standing between her and the evil man. He looked at me, seeing me as a shield. Then he thought better of him and steered forward on the green light. That was close! I was still staring after him, when Sara spoke up behind me, seeing me for the first time and saying, "You saved me!" I was shocked. How can she see me?! That's not possible! "I have always seen you," she spoke," We met in heaven before my soul was put in this body". I was stunned! " I feel you right here" she said patting her heart. If angels could tear up, that would be me. What's my name? "Your name is Emily, silly! Because I'm watching out for you too!" I was silent for a while, then spoke up, "You are very special, Sara, no soul can remember their time before they were born". She looked at me and said, "I miss that place, the one with the rainbows, I wish others remembered too." So do I, So do I! and with that I knew this woman would lead a wonderful life.

Stranger In the Woods
Winnie loved mornings. Every day she'd go down, eat breakfast, and take a long walk around the block. She especially loved the woods behind her house. It had been a while since she saw her wolf. She was starting to worry. Why hasn't he come around? She constantly thought of him. Little did she know her wolf was protecting her. She didn't think she needed protection. On starry nights she would go outside quietly and see those green eyes again in her mind. On this night particular night there was a full moon, and the woods were filled with creatures of variety. She was laying her head on the grass when a rustling of leaves caught her attention. A very pale man walked into view. He had dark brown hair and his eyes were familiar. They were the same green eyes she dreamt of. He lay down beside her. At first he didn't speak. Her hand brushed his. His skin was rough and warm. She liked the way her fingers were carefully folded in his. She didn't know why she felt at ease with him. He was quiet as she asked the obvious question on her mind. " Who are you?" He sighed deep, and whispered in her ear, " Don't you know?" Her heart was pounding. She thought she knew but she wasn't sure. She then realized the color of his eyes, and knew without a doubt. A smile spread across her face. He's here! He then replied, " Come with me!" She wanted too, but she wasn't sure. He got up, yawned quietly, and disappeared into the woods. When the time is right! the words echoed in her mind. I will come for you!

Winnie And Her Wolf
I walk in my backyard on a gorgeous sunny day. The air is cold and the leaves fall slowly to the ground. I shiver. I don't like the cold. I wish summer didn't have to end, I was hoping to go swimming again in my neighbor's pool. "Winnie", my mom calls my name, "What on earth are you doing?" Mom shouts. She makes a fuss nonstop that I'll freeze to death. "Coming, mother!" I reply. As I walk away from the woods to make my way inside, I hear a noise. It sounds like a whimper. As I turn around I see the most beautiful brown wolf. I know many of my friends would call me crazy, but I'm not scared at all. He's so cute. He just stares at me with those brilliant green eyes. He comes slowly forward as I scratch him behind the ears. Those eyes, they look human! Something in me doesn't want to leave. Then I hear another sound. A bunch of wolves come into the clearing, snorting and growling. My wolf stills. As the rest of the pack closes in on me, I feel their hot breath on my cheeks. It's comforting. One wolf breaks away and charges towards me. "Winnifred!" My mother screams, " Come here this instant!" I am too distracted as my wolf plunges his teeth into the other's fur. They fight for a while, and then the wolf falls to the ground. I watch my wolf return to me. He looks into my eyes finally. I feel hypnotized. I feel as if he speaks to my soul. I make my way back to mother slowly, looking ever so slightly back. I will see my wolf again.
