Emily's City Romance
Emily woke up that morning not remembering what happened. Then she did: she met a guy. Jordan was totally cool with the "just friends" part. Emily found Sara at the theater that day with Meredith, both working on separate plays. They invited her to a movie last night but she declined. Sara asked, "How did it go last night with...uh...Jordan?" "Good, Sara, he's a nice guy. Too bad when I leave the city we won't be able to communicate very well with the long distance." Sara replied, " You could stay; PLEASE! You'd love it!" "I have a job back home that I enjoy!" Emily said. "True," said Sara, a little blue. "Whats wrong Sara?" Emily asked. "Sebastian hasn't been texting me lately. Maybe your right. Do you think he's seeing other people?" Sara whispered. "Sara, I really don't know, but Kelly could have thought it was someone else like you told me." Emily told Sara. Sara knew something was up with him though. She kept quiet. Soon Meredith came over. " Whats up, y'all? Why didn't you come with us last night, Em? Kevin was there! I took your advice Sara. You were right." Emily saw Kevin stride up behind Meredith and give her shoulders a squeeze. She laughed! Kevin said, "Hey!" Meredith replied by turning around and kissing him on the cheek. He didn't talk for a while. He was surprised and also very happy. "Whats with this city and people falling in love?" Emily shouted! She was tired of telling her friends to tone it down a notch, so she decided to just let them go about their own lives the way they wanted even if it was...well...sorta something you'd normally do in private. She's seen two guys swooning outside her apartment, thinking ahhhhhh, get a room! As she left the theater for some fresh air she bumped into someone. She was apologizing when she saw it was Jordan. " Hey!" he said. She couldn't get over his smile and those green eyes boring into her brown ones. After a while, she said, " I didn't know I'd see you HERE!" "I work here. You could say I'm a playwright." He responded. then he waved to a friend behind Emily. She turned and saw he was waving to a girl with brown curly hair and lots of lip gloss. She felt a stab of envy for one second. " Sorry," he said, " gotta get moving, can I buy you dinner tonight?" "Sure." Emily uttered, unsure if it was just them too. Turned out that the girl with the glob of lip gloss wasn't there, what a relief! When Jordan showed up at the place he called Emily to meet up later that day, he was wearing jeans and a t-shirt. "Hey!" he said. "Hello", Emily replied. Silence fell. she'd never dated before so how was she to know the rules?! She felt so overdressed. He took her hand, and pulled her along to an alleyway that led to a basketball court. There was a picnic blanket, some candles, a blanket, and a basket of yummies on the court. Emily was one of those people who thought less was more. Perfect! Jordan looked at her, "Is this OK? I know not a lot of girls dig this atmosphere." It's fine," Emily said. Then, I'm not like other girls." He grinned. After a dinner of fried chicken and corn on the cob, they shot a few hoops. Emily totally beat him the first two try's, but let him win the last three. Later they lay on the blanket and looked at the stars. "Who was the girl you waved to, Jordan?" Emily was curious. "Oh, my cousin, Lula. She performs in one of my plays. We're close buds. When I was little she'd read to me; taught me actually, and writing as well." "I love to write" Emily exclaimed! They looked into each others eyes, then something surprising came. It felt good too. That night Emily prayed let him kiss her again.
