Sara and the House of Prophecy
Sara was an ordinary girl living in Tampa Florida in her parent's beach house for the new year. The water was nippy but she didn't care. She's swim laps daily and test herself on how far she could swim. Once she was swimming so far that she got really cold, and worse it was starting to snow. She tried to swim back but didn't recognize where she was. She was too far out. She realized she had made a mistake. Her mom always warned her but she didn't listen because she was having so much fun testing herself. In the middle of the ocean she saw nothing. Then an island appeared from nowhere. Seriously, she MUST be hallucinating. But there it was. She clamored through the choppy water and reached a sand bar. She stood up, then as she looked up, there were a flight of stairs. How weird! She took two at a time. They glowed sharply in the stormy clouds. She finally came upon a house in the sky. The doorway opened and a hand grabbed her out of the cold. she blinked. She was in a house for sure. Who lived here?! She thought. A voice sprang out. "Good question, Sara!" Sara looked to the one speaking and gawked. It was a human with the head of a cat. "I'm Somala, Your standing in the House of the Prophecy". "WW-What?" Sara stammered. Somala grinned."Yep, your chosen to redeem our kind so we may live with the humans. They think we're odd because of what we appear to resemble. We are not house cats, but we're not quite human. We came before both. You need to help us take back the planet from it's residents. They're messing it up!" Sara said, "What if I refuse?" Somala said simply, "You can't! Your our kind's redeemer. You have to help us. It's been written down for centuries: a human girl will help us rise to the top of all living beings." Sara didn't know how to tell this creature that she was a result of shrimp tacos and refried beans. This was a dream. It had to be! She blinked but still saw the strange creature pleading with her with big luminous eyes. "I guess I could help. What do I do?"
