Alec Talks About His Past

Sara and Alec had been going out for 1 month. All the time they spent together was magical! She started thinking of her life married to Alec. Would it change what was between them right now? Or maybe their love would grow stronger....maybe. She was scared to think that far. There was always the possibility couples would change their minds and ask for a divorce. That terrified her! How could she go through that?! She was starting to think just staying in the present was better than anything the future would hold. She prayed: God, I really hope he's the One, and if we ever get married someday, let it last. If we're not meant for marriage I want things to be as they are now; peacefully happy and content with one another. Then she said out loud, "Alec, when you marry some one would you want to have kids with them? Just wondering. I mean you say you love me, and dream of being with me, but I was wondering what that life would hold." Alec looked into her eyes and drew a deep breath, "I'm not sure I want kids. Do you want kids?" Sara looked him in the face and replied, "I love kids, Alec, but I am not planning on being a mother. I've thought about how nice it would be, but it's also very emotional too. I couldn't have that kind of stress. The fact that they could also have downs syndrome would make me sad. I've endured alot. I wouldn't wish that on anyone." She rested her head on his shoulder. He drew another breath, " If you want to ever have kids, I think that they'd be lucky to have a mother like you. But I don't want it to pressure you. I'd be OK to adopt. I heard theres lots of children without families that need help. I was adopted. I don't know my real parents."  Sara gasped, " Oh my, I didn't realize that. What was it like for you?" "Well," Alec started, "I was passed around alot when I was little. Some families couldn't deal with me, especially when they learned of my learning disabilities. But I am in the right spot now. The family that takes care of me now are better coping with me and the challenges I face. I love them." Sara  shed a tear. He brushed it away," Don't feel bad, I'm as happy as ever right now. I found you, and your all I want. In fact if we never have kids, I'd be fine with that." His mouth moved to hers, as they kissed under the sunset streaming through the windows of his house. When his parents came home he and Sara helped make them dinner. Afterwards, they played video games on his Wii. She beat him twice, until he started catching up. That's when his mom came in, and Sara realized she didn't look like Alec. How could she have not noticed. I guess she never thought about it, and it made her feel as if she should have been more aware. Alec smiled and said, "I hope she doesn't have to leave yet." " Well, son, it's getting late," she replied warmly. He said, "OK, mom!" The fact that he called this woman, his mother, was different to her now. She knew he was at peace with what happened, and that he really wasn't sad at all about his past. I guess you don't have to have the same DNA to be called a "family". Maybe, adopting would be better if she ever decided on having a child. Maybe it would help the world a lot more than she realized. Alec had a happy grin on his face. He had her heart even if things didn't last forever. She's never forget him. She hoped though that he was the One, but maybe life was more than finding your soul mate.  She thought the best thing was she'd made everlasting memories with him, and nothing could erase that. She was happy, even when he kissed her goodbye, and his mom drove him home. She waved goodbye when she was dropped off, and ran inside with so much more understanding on her face. She prayed to God that night and said " thankyou" for bringing him to the right point in his life where he accepted his past. She also thanked God, that he brought her into her life. Knowing him was a blessing. She was glad thier paths had crossed.

Sara's Fear

Sara was walking back towards her house after kayaking in the river. The water was cold, and she wished Alec was there to fight away the chill for her. He loved her hugs the best. She felt safe with him. s she opened the door, she heard a familiar voice talking in her ear. "Sara," it whispered. She turned around and their was her boyfriend with a big grin spread across his face. " Don't scare me again!" she yelled, then silently she said, " I love you!" The moment it was out she thought: Oh no, what have I done, should I have said that yet?! What if he's not ready to know how I feel for him. She panicked thinking, he'd leave her. She couldn't bear the thought running around in her head. " I'm sorry," Sara said. Alec frowned, "Don't feel sorry for admitting your feelings, Sara. Don't ever feel sorry!" She sighed. Was he going to tell her how he felt. Waiting was misery! She looked scared for the answer. He kissed her on her brow. "I love you too," Alec said, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. She felt better after that. They watched a movie he brought over, not remembering the plot when it ended. They were gazing across the couch at each other with awe. Her mom broke the silence when she walked by, " Alec, Do you have to be home soon, or do you want to stay a bit longer?" Sara wished her mom hadn't seen their intense non-verbal communication. " I think my mom wouldn't mind staying an extra hour, do you?" Alec blushed. "No of coarse not, Alec, we like having you around, but not as much as Sara!" Her mom burst into a fit of laughter. OK, now Sara was mortified! " Mom!" Sara said, calling out to her," Why don't you check on Dad, I think he's outside washing the car." She nodded and left them alone. "Alec, what do you see in me?" He breathed heavily, saying, " I see a fun-loving, smart, pretty, and one-of-a-kind girl that I love." Then he said, " I want to come over tomorrow. Is that OK? Maybe we can go to the park and watch the ducks. My father always took me there, before he passed away. I wish he could have met you." Sara nodded, " That would be great, Alec. I'm sorry you miss him. I know how you feel. I lost my grandmother and it hurts me still." Alec pulled her close and  held her tight for a few moments. She thought she could hear his heart beating in his chest. THUMP...THUMP...THUMP...

The next day Alec didn't show which was odd behavior on his part. The night before had been so sweet just being in his presence. Every time had actually. She almost dialed his number, but ended it, knowing he'd be the one to call her. She missed him, still. By lunch time he hadn't left her any messages. She was definitely worried. Her mom asked her, "Is everything alright?" Sara didn't answer; she didn't know. Around dinner time a phone call came through from Alec's mom, not Alec. He had been in a car accident on the way, and was in the hospital. Sara asked how he was doing, and if she could go see him. His mom said visitors weren't allowed right now. Sara's mom saw the look on her face, and took the phone from her, nodding at the news his mom was telling her. She was quiet when she hung up. Sara was in her room. She repeated, "If he wasn't coming to see me, this wouldn't have happened. Maybe it would have been better had I not told him I loved him. He wouldn't have been in a hurry." Sara's mom replied to that by saying, " It's no one's fault Sara. Things like this can happen to anyone at anytime. Life is like that. But I can assure you his mom said he's OK. When he got hit by the driver in the other car, he hit his head. It was a mild concussion. You'll be able to see him tomorrow. He'll heal fast from what the doctors told his mom, Sara." "But he still got hurt!" Sara was worried, and her mom couldn't get her to relax. That night she barely slept. The next day when she walked into his hospital room, he was awake. There was a bandage on his forehead, and stitches on his upper lip. He looked overjoyed and pained to see her, since smiling was hard for him at the moment. He got out, " I I  I dreamt about you last night." Sara replied, "What was the dream about?" "In the dream we were in a meadow and you were running towards me. You looked beautiful with your long hair in the breeze. When you reached me you had a ring on your finger. It was a diamond. My finger had a simple gold band. I think we were married, Sara." He looked fond on remembering it. Alec pushed her hair out of her eyes," I want to be married to you someday when the time is right". Sara replied, " I couldn't love anyone as much as I love you." She took his face in her hands and asked, " Are you OK?" "Yes", he said, "I want to get out of here and go somewhere with you, but the nurses say I have to stay one more day". Sara said, "As long as your healing, that is OK. Do you want to go to the state fair when you get out. It's this weekend." " I would love to," he said, "If I get to spend time with you, it's a blessing". A nurse came in after that to check in on him. She measured his blood pressure, and listened to his heart with a stethoscope. "It's a miracle nothing worse happened, that was a pretty bad accident. I think you have an angel on you side, Alec." Alec grinned, "She's my angel; she's all I want in this life". Sara teared up when he said this. The nurse smiled at her. Her name was Liz. Thats what her name tag said in bold letters. As Sara left she vowed she'd come back when he was discharged the next day. With that, she was thankful that he'd been spared. God wasn't going to let her lose  him. He had yet more time to spend with her. But she had to savor every moment with him. He was hers, and she was his. Death could not seperate them right now, and maybe never would. She prayed to the Lord for him when she got home. She hugged her pillow and imagined what their next meeting would be like. She ended up having a dream that night. In it she and him were holding hands, and he was pushing her on a swing, as she looked up and saw a rainbow above them. It made her happy. He was the "One" for her; always!

Sara's Falls In Love

Sara was walking to Emily's house one fine day, as a song came into her head. She sung out loud as she had an invisible audience, pretending to strum on a guitar she so wished for...."I got my sights set on you.." Suddenly she was snapped out of her fantasy as she bumped into a handsome young boy on the sidewalk too."I'm so sorry", as her eyes locked and his, and likewise for him. " It's..okay.Your voice is beautiful!"
He replied. His blue eyes were like the ocean, holding a secret or two as he watched her. "Do you live nearby?" Sara wasn't used to attention from the opposite sex like this. She had guy friends, but never someone who made her feel a certain way she hadn't felt before. Her heart skipped a beat, he was....She lost her trail of thought. "What did you say?" She asked. He calming said as he did before, " Do you live nearby?" "Oh, yes!" She blushed! "Do you?" "I just moved here," was all he said. Then, "I think we may be neighbors." She felt her heart pound again. What was this feeling she felt? Later that night she asked her mom, " How did you meet Dad?" Caught off guard, she replied, "Sara, is there a boy you like?" "I don't know,"she answered. "Well, girlie, sounds like you do. I know that look in your eyes. It's the same from when your father and I first met." Her mom was very casual the way she talked to her one and only daughter. Kevin talked more to her husband more than her. That's how it went with young boys. She was so blessed to have, Sara. She couldn't express what having a daughter meant to her. " Sara", she said, " I think we should talk. Is this the boy who just moved here or someone you've known?" Sara paused, " He said he just moved here, I didn't catch his name." " Oh the Robinson's boy, Alec, yeah, he just finished college as you have. He wants to be a video game designer. Very charming, my daughter! Good choice!" Her mom teased. " Hey, that's not fair, mom!" Sara said. " We just met, I don't know him that well yet." Her mother laughed, " Well, I think you should go see him tomorrow. Tell me what else he's into," her mother said again, cackling! Sara threw a pillow at her mother! "Oh, stop!" she said laughing too. " Well, goodnight, sleep well!" Her mom kissed her and left. Sara wondered through sleep about this boy she just met, and if he would feel the same way once she got to know him more. She tossed and turned, finally nestling into her blanket, smiling big.

The next day, she went to his house with home-made cupcakes from her job at the Cupcake Factory. She thought they could talk and get to know one another.  Maybe he'd be the one she's marry! Then she scolded herself for thinking that since she didn't know him at all.  Why was he making her feel so giddy? did she already have a crush on him. She shook her head side to side to shake the thought from her mind. She was just going to get to know him, that's all! When she reached the door, he came out before she could ring the doorbell. "Hey," he said, "I saw you coming!" "These are for you, I thought we could talk about where you moved  from," Sara replied quickly, then paused and asked, " Where did you live before you came here?" He sat on the porch swing, inviting her to join him, " Well, I moved here from New York City, where I attended college. I want to design video games. I'm looking for a business that could hire me. But enough of me, what about you?"  "Well, I'm Sara, Alec, that is your name right?" He nodded, and she continued, I attended college at VCU. I'm done now. I think I want to be a spokesperson for people with disabilities." He smiled at her, saying, "I think that's wonderful!" Then, he continued, " I have OCD. It's a disorder I struggled with through many years. But taking the right medicine, I finally can control it." She was instantly fascinated! "Whats it like having OCD?" He hesitated and then said, "Well, we are compulsed to do things when something doesn't feel right, to make it go away, like a ritual, you could call it. But it's hard to stop. Normally, it goes on for hours. But I've got mine mastered for the moment. It's true that it comes to haunt me once and awhile, but I'm a stronger person than I was."  Sara, had enormous empathy for Alec, "Well, I've had Downs Syndrome since I was born.  It's hard when people do or say things behind my back. They avoid me alot. It's hurts, but I'm just like them. I'm no different. I don't even know why I'm telling you all this." She looked down. He brought her chin up with his hands, " It's OK, Sara, you don't have to worry that I'll judge you unfairly.Your beautiful, you know that. When I saw you yesterday, I didn't look at you like those other kids did. I saw you as some one the Lord has blessed and someone I would really like to get to know better." Sara was speechless at his words. She never met someone who accepted her so openly when they met one another. He made her feel like she could tell him anything, and he's still have deep admiration for her. He leaned in and kissed her on the cheek. Suddenly, Emily walked up, interrupting their conversation. She was silent as she watched what went on between them."Sorry, I didn't mean to spy on you two, I was just going to ask Sara if she wanted to go bowling. Do you want to come too? Any friend of Sara's is a friend of mine!"  " Yes, I would, I'm Alec," he said shaking her hand. " Emily!" she exclaimed. " Well, nice to meet you," Alec remarked. Emily smiled shyly. As soon as Sara and her were alone, Emily whispered, " He's cute, are you dating?" "I just met him," Sara said, "But...I like him very much!" Emily listened to all the details of their conversation."Sara, I know what it's like for him to have OCD. I battled it myself. He sounds like a good guy for you!" " Thanks, Em!" She said, "I hope you find a guy that is good for you as well." "Well", Emily said, "I'm not sure there's someone out there for me." "What?!" Sara exclaimed, " Sure, There is! Your a wonderful person, any guy would be lucky to have you!" Emily smiled, " Sara, I hope your right!" " I know I'm right, Em", she acknowledged, "Your so kind, and caring. Anyone would love you!" "Same for you," Emily remarked, "I think Alec really likes you, by the way!" " Oh," Sara said, " We'll have to see, then," Sara said excitedly. Just then it was her turn to bowl, and Alec came by and dropped next to Emily,"So, you known Sara very long?" " Many years, Alec, by the way call me Em, everyone does!" "Em, I really like your friend, alot. What should I do for her?" He asked shyly. "Well, just be yourself," she said, "I think you'll find it easy to impress her." With that, Emily got up  to bowl, as Sara came to sit down beside him. He held her hand tightly, while saying, " I really like you Sara, even if we did just meet". "I like you too," She said, " What are you doing tomorrow?" "I'm not doing anything, but I'd love to hangout with you. Your not like others I met, I feel I can express myself with you, easily. Maybe we could go see a movie together. Afterwards, I'd like to meet your parents." She felt as though the world was spinning, as she rested her head on his shoulder. "That would be perfect!"

Your Perfect As You Are

Sara was going through the mail on the kitchen counter, when she found a bright pink envelope. She opened it and read the first line: TV REPLACEMENT FOR HANNAH MONTANA. She squealed with joy!!! Miley Cyrus was an alcoholic unfortunately and was requested to go to rehab immediately. Without a replacement the show would be canceled. Sara knew that just wasn't going to happen! The auditions were that weekend. As soon as she told her mom and dad, they arranged to drive Sara to the spot where the auditions were taking place. there was a long line, and Sara feared they might give the part to someone else. When it was her turn she was given a script to read. She got through most of it by heart. At the end she stumbled and blushed; clearly embarrassed. They said they'd call her over the weekend if she got the part. So, she called Emily and Amber, and told them. They were ecstatic! " What will you do if they call saying you are the next Hannah Montana? Will you have to move far away? Will we see you ofton?" Emily asked, worryingly. Amber felt the same, but remained silent. Sara said she didn't know yet. Then she thought that Emily had a point. She didn't want to leave her family and friends. But she wanted the role so bad and felt if she didn't get it she'd cry.

Meanwhile, she continued her week working at the Cupcake Factory, day and night. It was the only thing to get her mind off of waiting. She didn't like to wait, she wanted to know things in advance. So this was a challenge. On Saturday, she got the call she was expecting. she jumped up and down, OMG, She was the next Hannah Montana!!! She told her mom and nearly fainted with relief. Then worry lines creased on her mother's forehead. " What's wrong?" Sara asked. " Well," her mom stated, "Your father and I would have to move away from our home in Richmond, VA. The set is located in Orange County, California. We just can't make that adjustment right now, honey." Sara frowned. She didn't like what she heard. As soon as she could, she left the living room and slammed the door to her room. She wept for hours. What would the producer's think when she gave them the bad news, that she wasn't the next Hannah Montana. They'd give the part to some one else. She's never be famous!

Next morning she didn't come out of her room. When her mom came in their was a note on  her bed:
Dear Mom,
I'm sorry but I have to take this job. It's my destiny. I'm not coming back for awhile. I have enough savings for transportation. I'll come back and visit when I have an opening in my schedule.
Love,
Sara
XOXO

As Sara boarded her flight she found her seat and looked across the horizon. Her parents would understand that she was doing what she had to do. They knew this was important to her. She wouldn't let this opportunity slip away. She couldn't!

Meanwhile her parents were worrying frantically! She couldn't live on her own yet, and if this was a scam she wouldn't know what to do, they thought. She's get ripped off and be stranded by herself. They called the police to search the flight. Sara pulled her hair up into a baseball cap as an officer passed by her seat. She looked at the floor until the coast was clear. Then she sighed with relief. She knew they'd do this, but she was getting to that audition no matter what!

When she got off the flight in Arizona, and boarded another one, she felt so far from home. She didn't realize it would feel this way. She was alone. But it was worth it; she knew it was; it had to be! When the flight  ended and she arrived in Orange County, she got off the plane. She realized she was out of cash. So much for her savings! She walked a long time before she realized she didn't know where she was supposed to be. She tried asking around but it didn't lead to where her destination was. She sat down on the steps to a public library. This was confusing, and for once she considered that she might have made a mistake. What was she to do now?! As she silently shed a few tears, a lady came up to her. "What's wrong, little girl?" She replied back, "I am lost! I was supposed to be the next Hannah Montana, but I don't know where to go. I don't have money to call my parents either. I've never felt more alone in my life." Luckily the lady asked her where she lived and her phone number back home. She looked it up in the phone book, and finally contacted Sara's parents. They were so relived, that they arranged a flight where Sara was. Sara slept over at the kind lady's house. When she heard a knock at the door, her parents greeted the lady, and ran into the bedroom where Sara sat awake. Sara's mom shouted, "OMG, Sara, don't do this again. Did you know how worried we were? And you could have gotten into a lot of danger. Get in the car; we're going back home immediately!"

On the way back, Sara was very silent. They returned the rental car, and then jumped on the nearest flight home. She felt guilty. She knew she wouldn't be going to the set of the TV show, and though it made her sad, she was grateful nothing bad had happened when she set out to come here. It could have been a lot worse. When she was finally home, she ran inside and hugged one of the pillows on the couch. Her mother came and sat with her. "It's OK, you don't have to be Hannah Montana to be my rock star, because I love you, Sara. I'm not saying your getting off easy by scaring us to death, but I know why you did it. You don't need fame to be noticed." Sara looked into her mother's eyes, "I don't? But how can I prove to the world that I'm more than a girl with down syndrome?" Her mother put her arm around her and said, "Just be yourself. You are special the way you are. Hannah's got nothing on you, baby! Your better than her because you are who you claim to be. Your honest, and caring, and all the things she'll never be. You don't need a double life like on TV to have it all. You already do have everything." She lifted her eyes and said, " Really?" Her mother gave her a big hug and kiss, "Really!"

The End of the Battle

Winnie woke to her mother talking to the doctors about her condition. She looked everywhere. "Where's.....No....Wh Wha Watcher?", she gasped in shock at the memory of thier love and now...... He's gone. Her heart  couldn't bear it, the thought of him drifting in the sea, motionless, and that she should be with him right now. She WAS with him. It was so beautiful being inside his soul. There was so much light, and goodness, as he was in hers too. What did it feel like for him? I need him now. She sat up, and instantly her mother was by her side. "Winnie, Oh Winnie, my poor baby, are you ok?" "Yes" she confirmed, then, "Noooo!" She screamed for hours and cried silently onto her pillow. Her mother thought she was in shock of the events in the woods. "What happened in there Winnie?", he mother questioned. " I...don't know." She replied. How could she explain without them? Sara arrived, " Your awake? I'm so glad?" Winnie asked, "Where's the Witch?" "Dead", Sara said sheepishly, "Well, the wolves finally got her. I was there." Sara spoke. Winnie replied mournfully, "So is Watcher.......oh Sara, I have to tell you!" As she recounted all that went on to her closest friend, Sara took Winnie's hand and held it tightly. "I'm so sorry, Winnie. Is there anything I can do for you?" she asked kindly. "No." Winnie uttered. Then thinking it through, she said" But we could searched the spot near the cliff.  We will go when they let me out. I feel drawn there. He should be buried." Like my heart.

The next day, as Winnie begged her mom to let her out, her mom firmly denied her of her wish. The wound impacted in her chest was sore, but healing. Her heart was good, and had a strong beat, as the doctor said. But her mother told her she was in no condition to go out after what happened. Sara wove a tale that someone hunting the wolves had shot Winnie instead, and run off, leaving her in the woods. Sara had caught up to her, quick. It was Walker that had saved her, really. But she could never tell anyone about him. Every time she thought of him she teared up. Sara sat by her bed reading stories to Winnie. Currently she read "The Hobbit". It was both of they're favorite's. "Sara, I loved him so much, more than I realized." Winnie confessed. her friend said, " I know", secretly thinking of the blue-eyed wolf; Tracker.

One late evening Sara was with Winnie when her parents were going out to dinner. They'd be out a while with friends. Winnie got up and walked with Sara out the door. Sara put one arm around her to steady her. As they were on the rocky beach , they saw no sign of a body. So they went back, and Sara kept Winnie smiling. But in secret, Winnie wanted to be alone and cry. Watcher, if your out there why can't I find you. I lost you forever.

Watcher opened his eyes.
He was human, lying in a cove. Some one had a fire burning and was cooking something wonderful. "Winnie? You there?" But she wasn't. It was an indian woman. " My name is Eve, I'm here to help you get back on your feet. Don't walk!" She commanded. "You were almost dead when I found you. You must have hit your head on a sharp rock. But I cleaned you up. Do you remember who you are?," she said softly. He spoke," I am Watcher, and I am grateful to you, I need to see my beloved."  "Ahhhh", Eve let out, " So you have a lover!" She looked at him, "Where do you think she is?" "I -I don't know," He stammered, "but I sense she needs me." Eve looked at him with kind eyes. She served him some stew she'd made and Watcher swallowed graciously. He noticed she was clutching her belly which was very round. Her eyes had a glow in them. " I'm with child, sadly though my husband died of pneomonia." He wished there was something he could say to her, but sensing this she waved him off. she grinned. He thought of Winnie and knew he must find her quickly.

Winifred was taking a daily walk with when she saw a flash of green in the woods. Her heart pounded. But she told herself she was imagining it. She thought of flinging herself of the cliff, but she knew she couldn't do that to her parents no matter how hard the pain felt these days. Her wound was feeling better. Her mother helped dress her bandages earlier. Then she saw the flash of green again. And again! As soon as she turned she saw Watcher standing there. " I thought you died. I blamed myself." She said. "Winnie, I would never leave you." He muttered. Then he said beaming, "the curse is gone." Winnie laughed so hard she could have cried as she rushed to his side. She hugged him. He planted a kiss on her lips. " My parents are gone, but they'll be back soon. What will I tell them of you?" He put a finger to her lips,"We'll figure it out". With that he leaned in for another kiss. And another! Winnie delighted in his affection towards her. It made her giddy with delight when they brought thier lips together. She couldn't feel the wound at all. Her heart felt at home, like it had been on a very short vacation and returned.

Love Lives

Sara checked Winnie's vitals as she lay in the hospital. Two men in who wore silver badges asking Sara again  and again of how Winnie got in this condition. They weren't buying her story either, they knew something was amiss. Sara was exhausted trying to come up with a cover story as Winnie's parents wept. Winnie was comatose. Whatever the Witch did was beyond the doctors healing skills, and Sara didn't know if her friend would wake again. At least she was alive, I mean, Watcher did do that for her friend. Just watching him perform what he had done was a miracle. She should have been the one stabbed. Winnie shouldn't be in a coma! It wasn't right or fair. She planned on finding Watcher and telling him of the news. But there was no trace.

Secretly she hid her dad's shot gun inside her jacket for protection. A step forward proved no help, until she heard a sound behind the bushes. She drew her dad's gun and suddenly was relived to find a wolf. But this one's eyes were blue, not the emerald green of Watcher's. " Where's Watcher?" she asked. The wolf stared intently. Tracker knew this was the one who followed Winnie into the woods. He's been watching her, sometimes with hunger and others with, admiration. What a fine human! She was in dangerous territory but it didn't bother her. Another sound revealed something else was lurking in the woods. The Witch was watching Sara. She thought it was brave of her to venture so far, but foolish. She decided to sneak up behind her and....Wham! The Witch was hit by Tracker as his teeth bit into her shoulder. She threw him aside, targeting the girl.  "So why are you out here, you could die." "You don't care, look what you did to my friend!!! She's in a coma.", Sara spat. " She did that to herself, Sara", she replied wickedly. Sara raised the shot gun  high before her as it exploded in her hand and a fireball singed her fingers. Ow! Sara felt intense pain, but wasn't going to give up the fight. Sara said through her teeth, " Fix my friend! Winnie did nothing to you but protecting the wolf she loved. You need to stop this curse. Watcher adores her, I know he does!" "Why did he leave, why didn't he see her to her house, why did he give up!?" The Witch said hissed. "You lie!," Sara said, "He didn't want to leave her, I just know it! You pushed him away from her side with your tricks. You snake!"

Tracker woke with a headache. He saw the Witch circling Sara, she was conducting a memory spell. He couldn't let it happen. Watcher left him in charge to protect the pack, and those whom he cared for. He decided to lunge at the Witch again! A few more times, he was bloodied and weary. He stood one last time, and howled. Sara heard thumping feet race toward her, and around her the wolves trotted to the rescue. They all attacked the Witch, one pinning her down. "Tell me how to bring her back!" Sara hollered. " Or you will die!"

Winnie had the strangest dream in her coma. She was with Sara, looking down on the scene. She reached out to her friend, but her hand went through her as if Winnie were a ghost. She was scared that the Witch would hurt Sara. But she new she couldn't help her friend like this. Her spirit traveled in search of her wolf. She came to a clearing where he in human form he was looking down a deep cliff. "Watcher, listen to me! I'm OK, don't do this!" Watcher looked around and saw nothing. His heart was sad. This was his end now. He never would be with Winnie in the ways he wished. He had to rid the world of him. Maybe then she'd be free from the harm she was in. It was because of him! He knew it! " Watcher, I love you, I always will, and killing yourself....won't...help..us!!!! He heard her voice but didn't know how this was happening. If she died he couldn't live with it. What if she was dead? Winnie put her transparent hand on his shoulder, as he pulled back. Something....touched his soul the way nothing could. He knew he couldn't jump. He couldn't! "Winnie, where are you? I know it's you!" Winnie walked into him until they were one body as if it was natural.  Suddenly all of their past memories collided. They knew everything about each other. Each knew the other was in love with them, finally, and accepted what would happen next. They had too! As one they jumped together, falling, not just in each other's mind, sharing their last thoughts. "I don't regret a thing. All this led me to you." Winnie spoke quickly. Watcher agreed, "I love you, Winnie!" "I know," Winnie replied, "I always have". They plunged into the sea immediately. Their souls were fused to each other in the green abyss like nothing could separate them, not even death.

Winnie's Confession

Winnie gazed at the wolf standing in front of her. Winnie, being truthful, I used to be a human like you. In fact, I was your age when the Witch cast her spell on me. I wasn't a good person. She knew that, and she wanted me to suffer eternity as this creature I am today. She saw my heart was wicked. I begged her to change me back. I even lied that I had changed. But she was smart and didn't fall for my cunning. I spent centuries watching people die, people I knew, It was horrific! I've tried killing myself and even went mad when my actions failed. I began to lose hope. But you came, and though your not the first I fell for, I recalled the Witch's words. She wants me to find love, and only by doing that I can be human again. But there's a limit. By next spring if I fail to be loved in return I will lose my life, everything, and there's no getting humanity back. But I am ready to die because I know no one could love me. Don't feel sorry for me. I'm not worth it.

Winnie steadied herself. Suddenly, Sara walked from behind the trees. Winnie didn't notice her til now. Sara said " I love you, Watcher. Take me!" Winnie's jaw dropped. How long had she been standing there. Sara said again, "I will devote my life to you, Watcher." Watcher shifted uneasily. " Watcher, don't be scared of me." She reached him, and as he looked at her he saw her eyes held truth. Winnie backed away, scared for her friend, but then stepped forward. "Sara, What are you doing?" She held my gaze, " What you should have done." Winnie knew she was sacrificed herself for her best friend. But she couldn't quite get her feelings for Watcher of her tongue. Like something was stopping her. This wasn't Sara! Her eyes were different. Suddenly, behind her the real Sara said, "Run, it's a trap. She's the Witch!" Winnie was tugged by her friend to flee. Watcher watched the impostor with disgust. What are you doing here? How'd you find me? " I just followed your scent. Still the same person, eh?" I've changed but if your going to kill me, do it now, don't allow the girls to watch. This surprised the Witch. But she stepped forward as Winnie said "Wait!" She moved closer. " I l-l-love him, you can't do this." Startled by her confession, the Witch held a look of surprise. "Well, Well, a young girl being foolish...", though Winnie cut her off, " I always knew I was different. But this is my purpose. I know now. My purpose is to love. Even if the spell doesn't break, I'll always admire Watcher for who he is now. His soul cannot die, it is human. You cannot take that from him." Watcher was surprised as well. Was she speaking true? He wasn't sure. The Witch clasped her hands together and cackled, " What a performance! You think you love him, but your not sure, dear girl. Think of what he's done. He's not perfect."  "Your wrong!" she yelled, " No body's perfect." She was silenced for a long time and said, " If you love him would you die in his place?" Winnie replied, " I would die in the place of someone I loved". The Witch looked at her seriously. She did the same. They were in silent communication. Watcher watched, and then the Witch turned to face him, " You've been lucky. But you have lived long, don't you want to rest with your family." I would. It's been too long. I love this human girl, but she hardly knows me. It's not fair to expect her to love me in a way that would mean she'd be giving up all she had. And for what? For me? I'm a monster, your right. She doesn't know what she's saying. Once again the Witch said nothing. Kill me! She moved towards him and as she did Winnie leaped in front of them as she pierced the knife into her skin. She fell down. Sara screamed, "No! Winnie don't die!" Watcher felt horrible as if he was pierced as well but worse. Guilt seized him as he realized what she's done to herself for what...someone who couldn't be saved. The Witch vanished! Watcher growled. He could smell the poison dagger buried deep in her chest. Hopefully it wasn't her heart! He looked up as the full moon shown bright and clear.  Then a strange thing appeared to Sara.

There in the wolfs tracks was a man. He bent down and clinged to Winnie. He listened for a pulse but it was faint. He bent down to give her mouth to mouth several times. When he thought she was dying, he took the dagger out and stabbed himself, letting the blood run. He collapsed but then realized once again he could not die. Curse the Witch! Sara saw her gasp, sucking in air finally, as her eyes fluttered, but shut again. Sara, carried her to her parents, as they called the doctor. They both traded worried glances. Watcher was behind the trees, making sure they got her inside. Out of the cold. That was a long night for him, the longest in fact he's ever endured. She sacrificed her life for him, and he was mad at her. He knew their feelings for each other was growing. But he couldn't drag her into this mess. So he decided to leave. It was a hard thing, but he knew she was safer without him. I love you!

Realizing Things For What They Are

Amber was basking in the sunlight as a cold autumn breeze wafted through the air. She was excited to be seeing Sara soon. Her cell phone rang and as she looked to see who was calling she groaned. IT was Damen. She hadn't talked to him in a week, but it felt like forever. She did miss him, but she enjoyed the time away from him. She was starting to feel better until just now. She picked it up to be polite. "Yo!" Damen said. "Hey", she managed to get out. " Are you ok? I know it's been weird lately. I'd like to come by if it's ok." He asked. Amber was silent. Should she tell him she had plans with Sara. "Right now isn't a good time, I have plans." She felt weird saying that. He paused and then said, " I really like you, Amber. I don't want to lose you, ever. Why have you been avoiding me? Is it your mom?" "No!" she shouted, "My mom is fine with you." Ok, that was a lie there, but she couldn't decided where they stood right now. "Ok, well.....I'm coming anyway. You need me to rescue you, I can tell." He hung up before she could protest. He sounds desperate. Are you ok with this, Amber. I won't force you away from him.  It's just he rubs me the wrong way. It's a feeling I can't shake off. By the way, Sara is so happy  that your coming. Emily hovered in the air, sending a nice lavender smell, as the wind whipped through the trees. "I'll be ok. I can handle him. He...He won't hurt me. We known each other way back." Amber wasn't sure about her statement though.

Soon she heard the sound of a motor cycle in the driveway, and it could only be one person. "Yo, what a ride?" Damen said smoothly. "Damen", Amber said, "Look, I really do have plans. I met this girl named Sara. She's really nice. She wants me to have a sleepover later on, which means she's coming for me soon." Damen looked at her, " Can I meet her?  Maybe I can hang out with y'all. She could come with us to our usual spot at the pub." She didn't want to hurt his feelings, so she agreed, but something was telling her this might not go well. Sara's mom had pulled in the drive way right after she agreed. Emily went to warn Sara  of Damen.  Sara got out, " Hello, Damen, I've heard so much about you. I'm Sara. Damen nodded, " Nice to see you too." Sara's mom was shocked to see Damen brush her off like that. " So Amber, What about the pub?" Damen suggested. Amber said, "Actually, I was thinking...." "You could come to my house with us!" Sara blurted out. Excitement was in her eyes. "Ok, then." he replied in a cool tone.

When they got to Sara's house the motorcycle parked beside Mrs. Ruh's car, as they all got out. He honked twice. Sara's mom wasn't happy about that. Sara asked Damen," So are you a Christian?" " Not much,
I go to Amber's church though, sometimes." He said. Emily floated along with them. " So, what do you believe then?" Sara asked curiously. "I'm Atheist." he declared like he was proud. Sara frowned. Then he changed the subject and said, " You wanna go for a ride, Sara?" "Well," Sara said slowly, " My parents aren't fond of me and motorcycles. Once my brother Kevin took me, and we were in an accident. I was ok, But Kevin needed to get stitches. It didn't go well." Amber intervened, " Sara, what do you have planned?" " Well, we have a river back in the woods. We could go kayaking. You ok with that, Damen?" He nodded. When he got Amber alone he said, " "You know, I can't swim, so maybe let's go for a bike ride." Amber said, " But that would be rude, Damen. Sara is my friend." HE nodded and said, "OK". Amber was getting flustered. Damen had a problem with everything, and she just realized this wasn't going to work. " You can go, Damen, if your not having fun. I understand". He took a deep breath and said, " Amber, your different, you used to agree with me on everything. What happened?" Amber shouted, " Maybe she grew up, and started acting like a person who cared for others!" She and Damen never argued before. I guess she was immature back then, and realizing for the first time decided a change was in order. Damen shot her a look, got on his motorcycle, and drove off. Some how without him she felt better off. Sara and her had a wonderful time. Sara's mom grinned as Damen left. She hid it though. As the day progressed Amber was so happy that she didn't think of him at all. It was like a weight was lifted.

The next day when they dropped Amber, she thanked them for having her. As they drove off, Damen approached. "Whats wrong with you?" he said. she didn't give him any power, and moved to go inside. As she turned the key, he jerked her hand back. She was scared. Emily knew this wasn't going to be good. And stepped in font of Amber, pushing Damen back. "What the...." he began to say, "Your really getting on my nerves. Amber realized he could see Emily standing there, shielding her from his fits of rage. "You messed her up!" he yelled. Emily looked him in the eye, " Go, leave this innocent boy, Satan!" His face changed, but Emily used all her powers to force him away. Amber realized that this was the face of evil. She called out, "Go away, Damen or whoever you are! You deceived me. I thought you were genuine, but I  was a fool. Your nothing but trouble. Stay out of my life!" With that Amber was done with him, truly done. He was not a good person. Emily still shielding Amber until he drove away again. Then she sat down. "That took alot of energy, Amber. I'm proud of you. But I fear for that boy's soul. He's corrupted. Unless he repents, he will stay the same. How are you?" "I'm good", Amber replied. I'm so done with him. Emily smiled, "I fulfilled part of my mission back there. He was going to make you like him by force. HE was probably going to hurt you to do it too. You understand now as long as we're on Earth, the devil will try to get in to people's minds. I feel sorry Damen's is corrupted and pray he sees through it."  Amber asked, " So, how do we save him?" Emily frowned, "In his state he needs to save himself."

Amber felt bad for listening to him for so long. "Mom, I want to be baptised in Jesus Christ's name. I don't want to end up like Damen. I've realized a few things. He was bad for me, but I will try hard to repair the damage. I want to make things right with the Lord." Her mom looked up, " You sure, honey?" Amber replied, ""Yes!" Her mom smiled, "Good", and hugged her for the first in a a while, "I'm glad I have my daughter back". Amber grinned, she felt pure happiness. Emily knew she was done here, for now. She'd always come back, just as she did for Sara. But others needed her too. She faded away, repeating, Your a good person, Amber. You have a good soul. But others need me now that I've done what I came to do: Help you see past the deception this world holds. Love will always be your friend.

To Those That Died- 9/11

Amber walked over to Sara one afternoon with a slight spring in her step. She was tired of hiding from people. Sara approached her with tears running down her face. "What is it, Sara?" Amber asked. "Do you know what day it is?" Then Amber knew the reason for feeling sad. It was the 10th Anniversary of the people who died in the terrorist attack 9/11. Amber felt her heart go out to them, what if it were her in the World Trade Center, trapped in the flames. A tear rolled down her cheek. Sara said, " What scares me the most if it was me on that plane in front of all those terrified people." Sara couldn't hold it back anymore, she sobbed. Amber didn't know what to say, except, " Sara, if you believe in Christ then don't you think everyone on the plane will be in heaven". Sara had a surprised look on her face. She never heard those words spoken before. "Your right, They're still alive!"  But something in Amber awakened her to the fact that those people died a horrible death even if they went to heaven. Their lives on earth were cut short. They could have had alot more missions to complete. Amber put herself in their shoes. It was terrible to imagine! " Sara, Do you think...they had angels with them... " Sara replied quickly, "Of coarse, every one has an angel- one for birth and another for..well...afterwards..." She cried again at the picture in her mind. Amber said, " Sara, listen, we can't forget what happened to them. We have to remember, always. Our time could come any day, we don't know it hear on earth, so lets cherish every moment we're alive".  " If not for ourselves, for them." Sara concluded. The two friends walked hand in hand. Amber was starting to realize things about herself she never thought of. There was alot to think about on this day of all days. Love for her family swelled beneath her heart. She knew that the angels were there during 9/11. They were always there though out any event in history, easing the pain people felt. Emily hovered over them, wings pointed skyward, as if conversing with the one and only God. She felt sadness too. She remembered the very day as if the memory was from yesterday. God bless these young ones I am here to protect from harm.

Amber Asks For Help

When Amber walked refusedly to meet Sara, she said, " So I just meet her, that's it?" Yes, Amber, Open your heart to her. I have a feeling you'll be good friends and she can help you. You need to be careful that you don't surround yourself with negative people. It affects your overall health. "My Health?!" She tried to be happy but she felt bitter inside. "So where is she?" Amber huffed. "Here, silly!" As Amber turned Sara stood before her. " You and me will be great friends. Let Emily help you, Amber." Amber weighed her options. She missed Damen. Where was he now? Was he as confused as she was? Did he give up on her? " So, have you met Christ, Amber? I heard you go to church. It must be nice." Amber said, "Well, I don't really understand what they say much, my parents go so I guess I have to go. But Damen helps me during the boring parts." Sara gasped! "It's not boring! My parents and I just started going. It's so wonderful." Amber snorted. "Well, I guess we think differently." "No one person thinks the same, that's what makes us special", Sara told her. Amber was surprised how trusting Sara was of her. She didn't trust anyone. "Will you come to church with me?" Sara stated. " I would love another person to talk to about the sermons. I don't have many friends." That suddenly surprised Amber. "Why not?" Sara said slowly, "Can't you tell? I have Downs Syndrome." Amber breathed and replied, " Looks don't matter to me!" Sara was speechless for a while. "Thank you, I appreciate your kind words. You have a beautiful soul, even if you don't see it yet. God has put you in my life for a reason." Amber didn't have words to express how she felt. For once in her life she wasn't brooding over everything that was wrong with her. Sara made her feel that she was perfect the way she was. She wasn't trying to change her. She was being a friend. Emily was right to introduce them.

That night she was brushing her hair, when her mom came in. "Hey sweetie, can we talk?" "Sure" she replied. "You look different since you came home, like your happier." Her mom gave her a hug, and for once Amber didn't pull back. "Thanks, I guess I realized some truths about myself." she said. "Well, I got a call from Sara, she wants to invite you to her house next Saturday. she sounds like a wonderful person. I didn't like Damen much to be honest, he's had a negative influence on you since you started hanging out with him."  amber stiffened. Her mother noticed and backed away. " I just mean it worried me, seeing you so down on yourself." Amber shouted, "You don't know a thing about him, Mom!" She forced back tears. " I really like him, and he likes me." Her mom back up to the door, as usual she could she her daughter was shutting her out again. "Mom, he's a part of my life! Get used to it!" As her mother left, she turned to the mirror to see Emily's reflection. "Are you here to change me, because I'm fine the way I am!" Amber shouted! " I am not trying to do that, that's only your side of things. You got to learn to see the other side, Amber. Your not happy because you feel people don't want you as you are. That's not true! But, people do want you to be happy, and I mean, truly happy; free of your depression." Emily walked towards her, and put her arm around her. " You are important to your family. They want whats best. They are sad when your hurting. So am I." That night Amber had nightmares about people judging her and saying she needed help. But she told them she didn't need it. She wasn't a crazy person. Then her dreams lightened as Sara appeared and welcomed all of her. That's when she woke up. She sat up in bed for a while. Emily hovered over her room, filling it with peace. "Your right!" is all that came out of Amber's mouth. "Teach me to be happy, the way Sara is".

Saved By An Angel

As soon as Christ told me what to do, I descended again on the cloud bracing myself for the earth plane. Sara was doing wonderful in her life, she was excelling in all the area's they worked on. Amber was her next charge. It didn't mean she couldn't drop in on Sara every time and again. Sara would always be apart of Emily's life. As she hovered above Amber, she realized she was in a church. There her new charge was in the back pew as the minister preached a powerful sermon. Amber looks lost. I hope I can help! Amber turned around as if she heard something. A tall stranger decided to sit next to her. He dressed in black clothes, and had a screaming mohawk. A closer look rewealed a piercing above his eyebrow. He was doodling on the back of  a sktech pad. I leaned over to look, and saw a raven next to a tombstone. I nudged Amber a little. She looked around but didn't see me. Amber needed to get away from this man, quick. He wasn't the best influence on a young girl, but I didn't know much about this boy to make quick judgements so I waited. After chruch they filed out before they could shake hands with the preacher. I folowed them. They were holding hands. " Bryan, what do you want to do?" Amber asked. "How about you hop on my motorcycle and we'll get a bite to eat. Sound good?"  He replied. As Amber got on, I tugged her away from this death trap she was walking blindly in. She swatted me away like I was an annoying bee. I followed them to a pub, with increasing speed. They sat at the bar and laughed. Amber, I'm here to guard you, leave immediatly. This isn't good. "What, Damen?" She asked.  He said, "I didn't say anything. Are you ok?" Yeah, ofcoarse!" she replied back. She was thinking she was being paranoid, when I materialized in front of her as the bartender. "What would you two like?" I asked. " She gawked, " Hey, you weren't there before! What the heck?!" "My name is Emily", I stated, "I am new here. I'm afraid I need to card you for those drinks you ordered earlier."

They protested that no one carded here, and they were clearly over age. " Well, I still need to see your ID?" I made perfectly clear. "Let's leave! " Damen said.  "But I didn't eat anything." Amber was upset. I looked Damen in the eyes and willed him to stay. He focused his eyes  away from mine and agreed spontaneously that they should stay. " So Amber, what are you doing here?" I asked. " How do you know my name?" she shouted. "Oh I know everyone's name", I stated clearly. Her phone rang just then. She picked it up. "Hi mom, I'm at a friend's house studying for a test, I'll call you back when I leave. Bye!" She hung up, looking even more upset. " So whats this big test?", I asked. She ignored me. I made sure to look at Damen, while saying, " Do you have a test to?" He scoffed and ignored me as well. " I can't allow minors in here", I said. "WHAT?!" they both shouted. " Sorry, new policy!" I said. As they walked out I held Amber back. "He's bad for you. Don't lie to your mom again." She brushed me off. As soon as they left , I became myself, and soared ahead of them. I materilized in the road as a child waving to them to stop. Damen skidded off as the breaks came to a halt. But then I was already gone from his sight. I started up the bike, while Amber was on, and zoomed by. He was left staring at his motorcycle wizzing past him. I stopped at Amber's house as she tomped inside in a bad mood. I could tell her mom was confused. When she opened the room, I was there to meet her. " Are you stalking me?" No, I just didn't want you to get hurt. I'm here to help. Call me, Emily. I'm your angel. You need to hear me out, that guy is not a good person. You would've been killed today if I hadn't intervened. Hear me out, he is on the enemy's side. God sent me to save you and give you a chance to make things right in your life. She was angry and pulled the covers up. I willed her dreams that night to show her what could've happened. She woke up panting. "Ok,Ok, enough with the dreams!" She shouted. I just sat on her bed. I have some one to intoduce you to first. Her name is Sara.

Christ Visits Sara

Sara was sleeping late that morning when she felt a tug on her consciousness. "Emily!" She cried out, "Is it you?" But instead of her steadfast guardian angel, there was a man standing beside her bed. He was dressed in white, and his eyes were like rainbows. He had a beard and upon his head a crown of thorns. There were scars on this hands and feet. They were red. Sara, my child, I'm Jesus, the Christ! I come to see if you will believe in me? You do believe in my father. I am the Son of Man. I know every thought you ever had, as well as the cells in your very being. I love you truly, and I would wish you no harm. come with me. Your guardian angel is waiting on the other side. It is safe.

As she took his hand willingly he guided her to a golden staircase.

A flood of memories washed over her. Her soul rejoiced as this man held her hand in his. She didn't want to leave him, ever, or go back to her old life. She remembered the cross now, a man who had suffered great pains for her. His spirit departed the body and had risen. She hugged him so hard, she couldn't let go. He had a light around him that was pulling her in. She confessed every wrong- doing to him immediately, begging for forgiveness. She didn't need words either. He spoke to her soul as it awakened like never before. She didn't look back as her body lay on earth sleeping.

As she entered the golden gates, they shut behind her. Emily was waiting with wings outstetched from behind her. They were the color as rose quartz, and she could see them glimmer in a radiant light coming from everywhere. It was so bright. Jesus sat on his thone made of precious gems.

"May I stay with you", she pleaded. My child, you still have work to do. But you will be with me oneday forever. Your soul is of vital importance. Do you believe I am who I say I am? That I died saving people including yourself from death. "Yes, Messiah, I promise". Emily spoke to her and said, " This was a test bringing you hear, we needed to let you see him. You needed you to know what you now know, so you have the truth in your soul. I know you havn't been to church because of your background, and thats why we brought you here, little one". Sara spoke to Emily, " You'll still be with me though, won't you?" "Ofcoarse, Sara, I will be with you, always, but other children need me too. So I might be absent for a while. But I'll come back. Your ready to dedicate your life, I feel it in you", Emily stated. She handed Sarah a necklace with a cross upon it in Jade. "Keep this around your neck at all times, and remember me, dear one. I won't be far". Sara held the cross in her hand, her eyes tearing with joyous thoughts. She turned to Jesus, as he told her, " You must leave to go back to the earth plane, I have work for you. You have to figure this out yourself though. I have sincere trust in you. We will meet again." And with that she plummeted downwards back into her body, sleeping peacefully. Emily stayed with Jesus, "Whats my task, my Lord?" He told her, " I want you to visit another in need. You'll find out more when you see her. Her name is Amber. Be safe for the devil's followers try to lead people off track. Peace be with you". "And with you", Emily said proudly. With that she had a new assignment, but would always keep an eye on Sara. Sara was still her charge as well. But she was growing in faith. So would Amber. She had to move on and fullfill her duty to all that needed her help.

Answers

Sara thought of Winnie as she left, hoping she'd get home safe and sound. I hope she's not in danger.

Watcher was thinking too. He peered through the trees long enough to see Emily was safe, then went to reason with the wolves to get them to come around. I hope they don't turn on me. I need to protect Winnie from a whole lot of beings out there that wish her harm.

Winnie sat at her desk. She thought she glimpsed a flash of green in the woods or maybe she imagined it. At least she was at ease. Winnie decided she'd seek Watcher and ask him all the questions spinning in her head. How was he real? She was of age where people considered her an adult as her mother and father. They would never believe this stuff! Winnie felt like she was floating back into the myth and folklore stories that she read when she was a kid. She was not being reasonable to believe in things that had no explanation or never would. Was she making this up in her mind? "No, because I have to believe Watcher really exists, I don't know what this feeling is inside me, but it appears when he's around. It scares me!" She realized she was talking out loud. She spun and saw her mother watching her. "What are you saying? Who's Watcher? A boy  in town that you fancy? Strange name though, but I guess thats what kids call themselves these days." Then she left as quickly as she entered.

The next day at school was hard. She was going to be a nurse, she always felt compelled to help people. She helped her Grandfather on her mother's side before he died. She knew this was what she was born to do. But now with all this stangeness in her life she couldn't concentrate. As the day drew out she felt as if she didn't know things the way she did anymore. Everything is changing. She hoped that wasn't not an omen of bad things to come. She prayed with a passion that things would be alright. I don't want to lose it, but I can't fit in with rationality anymore. After school while her parents were away she slipped into the woods. Sara followed without making her self known.

Watcher had gotten through to the wolves finally. He ended up telling them what the Witch did to him, how powerful she was, and what she could do if he didn't protect them too. Tracker protested, snorting, obviosly not a believer. But atleast her was still alpha of the pack. He briefly mentioned Winnie, but kept her mostly out of it. He was tired of secrets, and having to cover his tracks. He'd protect the wolves along with her too. Why can't I rip her throat out, she smells mouthwatering, Tracker thought. Watcher growled, She's not prey, watch it, Tracker. Her father would shoot you if you got near her. Leave it alone, for now. Tracker had times where his thirst was uncontrollable, but he wasn't bad.A rustling sound drew his attention and a scent he'd reconized. He ordered them back into the trees, staying to make sure he sensed her, accurately. Yep, it was her! His heart pounded.

Winnie stepped out into the glade, and saw Watcher standing there, eyes on her. You want answers, don't you? My pack isn't far, speak quick! "Well, how are werewolves real? How is any of this part of the world I  live in? If your not a werewolf, what are you? What is this....ah...connection..between us?" She gulped loudly. This was it. Now or never.

Winnie's Worries

Winnie carefully washed the blood off of her as Sara grilled her about Watcher. "So he's a werewolf or something, right?", she implored. "Uh yeah, I guess, but his eyes are human; compassionate....strange," Winnie replied thinking of him lying around her in the snow. "Also, there's nothing monstrous about him. He doesn't seem like he's after my blood", Only my heart!  Knowing he was wounded out there, only made her feel worse. But he would survive, he had to. "So are there more of these...things?" Sara asked more eagerly.  Winnie hesitated, then replied, "I'm not sure?" Were there more? He mentioned being leader of a pack.....are they all like him...human? At least their eyes, I mean? His eyes looked so sad when I ran from him? This is too freaky! What am I doing? Sara grilled Winnie some more before getting deeper into this situation her friend was in. It was not normal, true, but Winnie wasn't lying, she never had, and she wasn't the one to joke. She saw Winnie's eyes were terrified. She wished she could help. She went out while Winnie was showering, and took a step towards the woods. She knew her own mother told her to stay inside from the account told by Winnie's mother. But she couldn't! Sara suddenly heard howling far off, she stepped back. She heard a whimper....it's true. Watcher came into view soon. He carried a cloak in his mouth, and set it on the snow. She saw where Winnie had stopped the bleeding by making a tourniquet. This was very real to her now. He looked in her eyes but didn't speak to her as he had done to Winnie. Watcher and Sara stared for a long moment. His eyes were the green Winnie described, and yet, sad. As she heard more howling closer this time, she said, "Go! Leave!" and like that he got up and left. She raced back inside where her friend was washing her clothes. Winnie saw what was going on, the pack were hunting him. This wouldn't be a happy ending, she guessed. This would be a war. How could whatever was between them survive the coming storm.

Winnie And Watcher

Watcher pounded to the heart of the forest where his pack were waiting. He had to shield his thoughts from them. If they knew he wasn't really a wolf, that's he used to be a human, then they would kill him. He was afraid he would never find love and the curse would live on. An eternity like this...I can't stand it any longer. There was however a loophole. Every full moon he could change back, but only for a while. Then he was a wolf again, and his boyish looks faded. I am a monster. But Winnie, theres something about her that makes me love her more than most girls I've approached. They all flee in the end though.

Winnie lay on her bed, frightened of Watcher. He could hurt me, but why would he do that? I can't trust him yet, until I know more. She was suddenly mortified for fleeing from him. He'll never come back though, I saw betrayal in his eyes. What if he kills me? She sighed so loud, her mother came in, and said "I saw a wolf out there, that was smart of you to come in. Don't go out anymore, Winifred. Your father is going to shoot that thing!" She held her cross-shaped pendant around her neck, and prayed in front of Winnie. " Father, please don't let that thing come near my daughter again. Protect her from what lurks in the darkness of those horrid woods. She's my only child, my baby. Don't let her stray from me." A tear ran down her cheek. " Mom, I won't go out again, don't worry," she said, " Why would I?" Her mother was glad to hear that. If only we could find her a nice husband, so she could settle down and have a family like her father and I did. As her mother thought this, she kissed her daughter on the cheek, and left.

Watcher wanted to go back to see Winnie on last time. But she wouldn't see him again. She'd have locked her doors by now. He wouldn't ever see her again. A gun shot fired as he leaped into action. Some one was hunting them. His pack had to run away from these parts before they got killed. He smelled Winnie's scent on the man, he was old enough to be her father. She told him to shoot me, I bet. She hates me. I would hate me too! Another shot fired, injuring a wolf who had leaped in front of him. Watcher roared, calling the wolfs to retreat. Although in his mind, they refused. It took every once to convince them not to risk being caught by this man. He followed his pack, leading them to other parts, much safer than this plot of land. Goodbye Winnie!

Winnie woke when she heard a shot from her father's gun. Watcher! It could be him! He must be injured or worse...dead. Tears sprang from her already misty eyes. She realized she had dreamt of him before she heard the gunshot. He was in the woods, and the wolves turned on him. What a nightmare, even if it feels real.

Next morning, Winnie had trouble dressing as if she felt the shot too. What is going on with me?! Oh no, I am not in love , no, not with a wolf! This is ridiculous Winnie, even for you. What do I do now? He's probably dead. What if its my fault?! If I wasn't with him in the backyard, father wouldn't have seen him. I need to find out what happened, by breaking the rules. Winnie dressed in a light blue dress, and pulled a hood over saying she was visiting her best friend, Sara. Then she dashed for the woods in a hurry.

Watcher was limping, his pack turned on him when they smelled human scent on him. They were going to track Winnie and kill her. But he gave orders to move away from from her home. Then a wolf, by the name, Tracker, bit his leg, causing him to yelp in pain. That's when he heard the gun shot, and dashed away from the pack. He couldn't live with them. The farther he was from Winnie the less danger he put her in. That was the plan. He was now an outcast. He forgot where he was, just moving along as he willed his leg to move. Blood trickled in the snow leaving tracks. He didn't care. He had no hope anymore. Nothing to cling to. No one.

Winnie ran through the forest making no sound. She had to find him. She saw red tracks in the snow...blood. It made her stomach lurch. Would she find him. She was all alone and doubted she'd find her way back, or the trouble she's be in if she got back. She didn't care. She was growing cold and finally collapsed. Her fingers were numb as she crawled further but even that didn't help. This was it, she was going to die of frostbite. Watcher!

Watcher felt like something was pulling him to the clearing...and knew when he saw Winnie as she lay in the snow. He sat down and felt her heart beating. Good! Next, he tried to keep her warm by curling himself around her. He felt a tug on his fur. He closed his eyes and dreamt. Winnie was coming to consciousness. She felt warm. Where was she? Then she saw blood on her hand, and... Watcher. Wake up! He didn't stir, he was deep in sleep, but not dead. " What a relief!" She voiced her thoughts out loud. He stirred and whimpered. His leg was covered in blood. She tore a piece from her dress and wound it around his leg. The bleeding slowed down at least. Then she took her cloak off and laid it around him. As she got up, she thought about going to see Sara. There was alot to tell her. Sara wouldn't mind, she never thought Winnie was crazy, she'd believe her. So she left him to heal. It's better to let him sleep.

Watcher woke and found Winnie's cloak wrapped around him. What if she does care? I hope she's safe. He was too tired to lift his leg so he slept and dreamt of being human again...with her.

Watcher's Fate

Winnie was loving the memory of seeing her wolf under the full moon. It surprised her with everything media had taught her about wolves transforming into beasts, but this wolf was not a beast. His eyes were human- looking, and full of compassion. Winnie spent her days looking at the woods behind her house. Running with the pack, being free, chasing prey.... Then she woke from her daydream. She wasn't sure why she thought that. It didn't come from her. Slowly her eyes shifted to the woods. She was being watched. Her wolf came out of the forest. "Hey what were your thoughts doing inside my head?!" I was entertaining you on what being a wolf would be like. Do you want to join us? "Maybe...No, I can't. I couldn't do that to my mother!" She doesn't know about us, does she? "Did you just say us- like you and me-I didn't think you felt that way" she wispered. Oh yes, I do. "I hardly know you!" Well, wolf- human relationships run on a deeper level. Once it imprints..."What, you imprinted on me?!" Not yet, and wolves can't entirely control it. "Well, what if I enjoy humanity? I wish I were human then. Silence suspended between them. "Do you have a name?" I once did...hmmm...I don't recall. It's been quite a long time. Call me Watcher.
"Ok, Watcher, how do you more know me and I know little of you?" You are scared, arn't you? I won't hurt you. My wolves won't hurt you either considering I am alpha. "This is too much", Winnie breathed deeply, " I can't see you again. I'm sorry." She ran to the house, utterly freaked out. Watcher glanced after her. Is this what the humans call "heartbreak", I can't live without this beautiful creature. If I do I'll never be human again and the spell will be unbroken. Why did the Witch doom my chance at happieness? Maybe it's better this way. He silently walked away, hurt that he hadn't found a human that could see past his appearance.

Sara's Revelation

It was so warm at the beach where Sara and her family were vacationing. She had just graduated college, and was working part-time in a local cupcake shop, "Frosting's". It was always a dream of hers and she loved it! she was still figuring out what she REALLY wanted to do. Don't go far out, little one! "OK, I won't!", Sara grinned. She loved the water at the ocean. Sometimes I thought she's grow fins and swim away if she could. I couldn't go into the water with her so I kept an eye from the shore. The sunlight went right through me like prisms. Sara giggled, " You sparkle so much it is impossible to miss. It's pretty!" We're not like those vampires in Twilight though, what a funny book! " Well, it's funny, but romantic. Bella and Edward are soul mates. Will I find love like that?" she suddenly looked serious. Yes, but without the fangs! She laughed so hard that at first she couldn't see the next wave coming. Sara! Come closer to the shore. The waves are getting rough. She turned and shrieked, paddling a hard as she can. I had to possess the life guard to get in the water, and pull her out. Breathe! Her parents rushed over, both worried. " I'm ok, just got caught off my guard." Her parents forbid her to go back in, as I mentally agreed with them. " Your all making this bigger than it is, I'll be ok, I'm not afraid. Heaven will open it's arms for me". At that, her parents looked worried. "We don't want you to leave us, please don't say that again," he mom pleaded. "But Mom, we'll be together!", she gasped. Her mom was looking at her strange and said slowly, " Honey, where did you hear about that? We never mentioned religion to you." Sara, I think that was too much for them. She agreed silently. She hated lying, and said, "One of the kids at school were mentioning it, I'm sorry I scared you". They didn't say anything for a while. "Sara", her mom ventured, " Your father and I hear you talking to yourself alot. Why do you do that?" We both looked uncertain but Sara finally had the courage to admit it to them. I didn't stop her as she said, " Well, I talk to my guardian angel. That's not a bad thing. We all have them, Mom, and I..."Before she could finish her mom cut her off, "Listen to me Sara, you never talked like this before. It frightens us. Maybe we should have some one see you who can help make the voices go away for good" Sara looked shocked! "You don't believe me!" She frowned. Sara, people are afraid of what they don't know. Your parents are acting out of love. I understand how you must feel. They don't want to lose you. She decided not to speak of it again, but felt sad that they couldn't see what she could.

When they were back home she went to her room and didn't speak. Not to me, at least. Silence hung in the air for a long time as she processed these things. She knew they were afraid, but couldn't see why they shouldn't know at least part of the truth. "They are listening", she whispered, finally. I could sense that it pained her not to share her revelations with her parents. Her dad came soon, and said patiently," Sara, do you want to go to a church sometime? I know of one close by...If it makes you feel better. Your mom and I have been thinking alot. We should have educated you on religion in some way, we didn't know how you'd react". He sighed. "I do, I want to know more about this", she said, even though she knew alot already. He just smiled, and left the room. " Why can't they see what I see?", she wispered. Well, it takes a while for older humans. Your still young, and you have a gift that most don't share. "Well, maybe I should. Maybe others need to know there is a God who loves us one hundred percent".  Your right, it would be a good thing. Give them time to get used to the idea. For now, lets make sure we're careful though. They will see, don't worry, Sara. They will!

The next day Sara's dad made scrambled eggs and toast. Then he said, "Sara, we're going to dedicate our lives to God. Your mother and I feel like it's important for all of us after what you said. You  shocked us at first, but we realize it's time we think about our souls." With that Sara, hugged him tight, "Thank you, I promise you'll love it....." Way to go, Sara, I told you they'd see eventually. Maybe some day we won't have to keep this a secret. But for now lets take it a step at a time. I was happy her parents were interested in wanting to know more, for Sara's sake and their own.

Sara's Choice

It's was a rainy day in Richmond, as Sara skipped past the others heading towards school. The campus was all inside since nobody wanted to get soaked in the downpour. Sara didn't mind though. She loved the feel of the water coating her as she sang. I am her guardian angel, by the way. I watched from the distance with a huge grin. This is one of the best jobs God gave me. Sara knew I was there. Not many can see us. She had an extraordinary gift. Sometimes I thought she was guarding me. Sara, I think class has started! Yes, she could hear my thoughts too! She stopped singing and grabbed her things as she rushed to the front, where she always sat. I hovered over the room listening to the teacher as she was. The teacher was talking about the Renaissance, and how people like Leonardo Da Vinci evolved the way people think. This was a favorite subject to Sara, who enjoyed history very much. As the teacher dismissed the students, he said their was a test on Friday although most people didn't listen. Sara, however was fascinated. She drank in every word. As she collected her things, the teacher walked past, and glanced at her. "Sara, you are my favorite student, and I know you will succeed this class. When I am through this semester I am going to retire. I shall never forget your hard work. So I have decided to sway the school board into letting you graduate early". Sara looked at him, "Thank you, Mr. Vick, it's an honor, let me talk to my parents". He assured her there was plenty of time to  think about this opportunity, as he left the classroom. I came down to join her right away. That was wonderful, Sara. He's offering a great possibility! " I don't know, I want to graduate with my class. I really want to stay and learn more." Thats ok too! I bet your parents will support you whatever you decide. "I know they will, although they have a limited amount of money set aside, and they might agree that I graduate sooner." She frowned, and picked up her pace. As her mom was washing the tomatoes, as she did often, she looked up as Sara came in. She didn't know I was there obviously. It was a secret between Sara and I. "Mom, the teacher wants me to graduate sooner, but I'm not sure I'm ready", she stated."Oh, Sara, how wonderful! Your father will be proud. Although it's your decision, honey, and we support you with what ever you decide". Her mom was grinning ear to ear at her daughter. She knew that it was hard for Sara to adjust to this idea since it would mean leaving early. Sara enjoyed learning so much! But she had to let Sara be the one to confirm what direction she wanted to go. When we were in Sara's room, she looked more confused that ever. It'll be ok. Just follow your instinct. If you want to stay that is perfectly fine. "Of coarse, I do, it's just that college courses cost so much. I couldn't do that to my parents". Sara sat on her bed. I materialized and sat with her. I knew this was hard for her to decide. You'll be successful no matter what you do! " She smiled at me and said, "I think I'll stay, it would be nice to graduate with everyone else". As Sara lay down that night she thought more and more about graduating with her class. They hardly noticed her but she was willing to keep on going in the same direction. She wanted people to see her as she was, able to endure anything, even if it meant she stay and prolong her graduation.

Next morning, she rose refreshed and clear headed. She looked happier than the previous day. That night she made some tough decisions but finally she truly knew what she wanted to do. As she walked once again to class, she didn't fear what people would think if she graduated early. She wanted to be herself, but knew staying would cost so much, especially since she didn't have a job. So she went to her teacher at the end of class. "I thought about it, and I want to accept the school board's offer, I want to move forward in my life, instead of looking back on the "what-ifs". I know people will look at me different, but I don't care. This is my life and I'm living it!" Good Job, Sara! In the afternoon, she told her parents, "Look, I'm going to graduate early, I decided it's better to take the next step without worrying where I'll be. It's me that has to move on!" Her dad lifted her in his arms and gave her a big hug, as her mom joined in to do the same."We are so proud of you, Sara!", her father said, " All that remains is what your going to do next. We are excited to see what you make of your life". Sara smiled, she was happy and that's all that counts. I slid in for an invisible hug, my joy for her surged as I knew she had made the right choice. You always surprise me, and I am glad to be apart of your life. God gifted me by being your protector. But you have an inner strength, and I always have admired you for that. I always will, Sara. I won't leave you either,  I'll stay and be happy whatever you do.
