Winnie woke to her mother talking to the doctors about her condition. She looked everywhere. "Where's.....No....Wh Wha Watcher?", she gasped in shock at the memory of thier love and now...... He's gone. Her heart couldn't bear it, the thought of him drifting in the sea, motionless, and that she should be with him right now. She WAS with him. It was so beautiful being inside his soul. There was so much light, and goodness, as he was in hers too. What did it feel like for him? I need him now. She sat up, and instantly her mother was by her side. "Winnie, Oh Winnie, my poor baby, are you ok?" "Yes" she confirmed, then, "Noooo!" She screamed for hours and cried silently onto her pillow. Her mother thought she was in shock of the events in the woods. "What happened in there Winnie?", he mother questioned. " I...don't know." She replied. How could she explain without them? Sara arrived, " Your awake? I'm so glad?" Winnie asked, "Where's the Witch?" "Dead", Sara said sheepishly, "Well, the wolves finally got her. I was there." Sara spoke. Winnie replied mournfully, "So is Watcher.......oh Sara, I have to tell you!" As she recounted all that went on to her closest friend, Sara took Winnie's hand and held it tightly. "I'm so sorry, Winnie. Is there anything I can do for you?" she asked kindly. "No." Winnie uttered. Then thinking it through, she said" But we could searched the spot near the cliff. We will go when they let me out. I feel drawn there. He should be buried." Like my heart.
The next day, as Winnie begged her mom to let her out, her mom firmly denied her of her wish. The wound impacted in her chest was sore, but healing. Her heart was good, and had a strong beat, as the doctor said. But her mother told her she was in no condition to go out after what happened. Sara wove a tale that someone hunting the wolves had shot Winnie instead, and run off, leaving her in the woods. Sara had caught up to her, quick. It was Walker that had saved her, really. But she could never tell anyone about him. Every time she thought of him she teared up. Sara sat by her bed reading stories to Winnie. Currently she read "The Hobbit". It was both of they're favorite's. "Sara, I loved him so much, more than I realized." Winnie confessed. her friend said, " I know", secretly thinking of the blue-eyed wolf; Tracker.
One late evening Sara was with Winnie when her parents were going out to dinner. They'd be out a while with friends. Winnie got up and walked with Sara out the door. Sara put one arm around her to steady her. As they were on the rocky beach , they saw no sign of a body. So they went back, and Sara kept Winnie smiling. But in secret, Winnie wanted to be alone and cry. Watcher, if your out there why can't I find you. I lost you forever.
Watcher opened his eyes.
He was human, lying in a cove. Some one had a fire burning and was cooking something wonderful. "Winnie? You there?" But she wasn't. It was an indian woman. " My name is Eve, I'm here to help you get back on your feet. Don't walk!" She commanded. "You were almost dead when I found you. You must have hit your head on a sharp rock. But I cleaned you up. Do you remember who you are?," she said softly. He spoke," I am Watcher, and I am grateful to you, I need to see my beloved." "Ahhhh", Eve let out, " So you have a lover!" She looked at him, "Where do you think she is?" "I -I don't know," He stammered, "but I sense she needs me." Eve looked at him with kind eyes. She served him some stew she'd made and Watcher swallowed graciously. He noticed she was clutching her belly which was very round. Her eyes had a glow in them. " I'm with child, sadly though my husband died of pneomonia." He wished there was something he could say to her, but sensing this she waved him off. she grinned. He thought of Winnie and knew he must find her quickly.
Winifred was taking a daily walk with when she saw a flash of green in the woods. Her heart pounded. But she told herself she was imagining it. She thought of flinging herself of the cliff, but she knew she couldn't do that to her parents no matter how hard the pain felt these days. Her wound was feeling better. Her mother helped dress her bandages earlier. Then she saw the flash of green again. And again! As soon as she turned she saw Watcher standing there. " I thought you died. I blamed myself." She said. "Winnie, I would never leave you." He muttered. Then he said beaming, "the curse is gone." Winnie laughed so hard she could have cried as she rushed to his side. She hugged him. He planted a kiss on her lips. " My parents are gone, but they'll be back soon. What will I tell them of you?" He put a finger to her lips,"We'll figure it out". With that he leaned in for another kiss. And another! Winnie delighted in his affection towards her. It made her giddy with delight when they brought thier lips together. She couldn't feel the wound at all. Her heart felt at home, like it had been on a very short vacation and returned.
